As with all vacations, the time came to leave and return home again. We are left with wonderful memories and over 700 pictures. I am so glad we could go. It was a wonderful adventure, but it was time to return to home and the good life we live here.
I can't say it was the best vacation ever, but it was mighty good. God made a great big world and exploring it is an exciting wonderful thing.
What makes a vacation wonderful? What are some of your wonderful vacation memories?

I LOVE this pictue. I have stolen it for my spiritedsouls vacation pics :) I'm sad that the National Geographic blog is coming to an end. I have really enjoyed your tales and pics but I am glad you're home.
Thanks for the exciting tour mom!
I'm curious.
If this isn't the best vacation, where the heck have you been?
Sling, the best vacations were not where I was but who I was with. For me the best time is when I am surrounded by family and friends. Seeing the world is wonderful. Being loved is better. Doing both is outstanding. This was one of the best times.
Your pictures are wonderful - armchair traveling at its best! What were the accommodations like? Jean and Bill are in my prayers.
Indeed it is true, we have such an awesome planet we live on...and some people just really miss the picture. And, you do not even have to travel to see the wonders of the World, it is right in our own backyard!
When I walk and ride my bike every day I see things I would otherwise miss when I would be driving my car. We have a river here and well, while we have a drought and it is not running at its fullest potential water wise, it still has ducks and birds and frogs. It can get cold and Windy right now because it is Winter here now but it is still lovely.
We recetly went to Lakes Entrance with the kids for a holliday. The wonders of that place are amazing!
What makes a gr8 vacation is being able to relax, fuss free cooking and great days outside..soaking up the NOW :)
Wonderful memories are when I see another persons face light up with the wonders of nature, fishing, seeing a big pelican!!
I'm with you mom; the best vacations are the ones that include those you love dearly...it makes sharing the things you see and do and talk about so much more alive and exciting. I think God meant it to be that way.
Great trip pix! Hope you two have many more together to share.
The trips I've ever taken with family definitely top any others.
Thanks for always making us take stock and helping lead us to what is important.
This has been soooo fun, Mom. Although I don't think I envy you the whole sorting-through-700-pictures thing.
My best vacation memories are always the little, unexpected, superwonderful things that happen along the way...the stuff you weren't expecting because you didn't know to expect it but which was able to pop up out at you because you'd put yourself into a new place/experience/situation in the first place.
Welcome home!
