Hospitality

Next Sunday I am participating in a discussion about the importance of hospitality. I am looking for a definition and some examples. I'd appreciate some answers to these two questions.

1.What is hospitality?

2.When did someone show you meaningful hospitality?

This is a two way hospitality answer......Hospitality is not making someone take their shoes off before they come into the house and not making me take mine off. hope that helps.

As a bartender, hospitality is listening well enough to ask pertinent questions.

Hospitality is doing everything you can to make somebody feel welcome and comfortable.

My Tante Inge in Germany is a master of hospitality. She welcomes you with open arms, serves lovely baked goods on beautiful china with fresh brewed coffee. Then she wits you down to listen to anything you want to talk about as if it's the most amusing, fascinating conversation she's ever had.

Hospitality is asking everyone who visits or works at your place, would you like a cup of tea or a cold drink...and then hospitality is seeing people right out and waving them off... (maybe to make shure they keep going Huh!)

I agree: offering comfort and a willing ear.

I especially appreciate it when people offer hospitality to my children.

Hospitality, being hospitable... "Come in, sit down, can I make you a coffee?"
It is, to me, the ability to make someone feel comfortable in a place that is out of their comfort zone...both at work as a nurse and at home in my house.

The last time someone was hospitable to me was when I went to visit a friend. Her daughter, my God daughter, made me a coffee and offered to paint my nails...that was over the top...and lovely all the same :)
