Today is the birthday of Theodore Geisel. He is 105 today. We know him better as Dr Seuss. His books have helped millions of children learn to read. What is one of your favorite Dr Seuss quotes?
The first Suess quote that came to my mind was, "Hop Pop, We like to hop, We like to hop on top of Pop." My little kids would chant that while playing with their dad.
Oh,I love this question. His first published children's book 'And to think that I saw it on Mulberry street' was always my favorite. I know that's not a rhyming quote, but I like the whole idea. 'One fish, two, fish, red fish, blue fish' comes in a close second.
It's so hard to choose. I had the privilige of working at Random House during his final years, when "Oh, the Places You'll Go" was published. It still pops up on the bestseller lists every year at graduation time.
"You have brains in your head, you have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose."

"Big B little b what begins with B? Barber baby bubbles and a bumble bee."
And..
"I am the Lorax who speaks for the trees which you seem to be chopping as fast as you please."

"Not in a box, not with a fox, not here or there, not anywhere, I do not like green eggs and ham, I do not like them Sam I am"
That right there is my motto!!

Green eggs and ham stuff.....I remember Sachiko asking me what laid a green egg...I told her a green chicken.
There's a fun English teacher debate about whether the ham is green too. Does the adjective apply to both nouns?
"Do you like my hat?"
I like the guys in "One Fish Two Fish" who are talking on the phone and the mouse has cut the wire.
Everybody seems to know some Dr Seuss.
His appeal is nearly universal... although I must say that my mother never "got" it.
"Do you like my hat".
