The Januaries

My friend J is suffering a bad case of the “Januaries.” You know the symptoms. You feel depressed and bored. The blahs seem to overwhelm you. She finds this malaise overwhelms her every winter. I pointed out to her that it was now February, but she responded that a bad case of the Januaries could last all through February.

Do you have any suggestions for overcoming the Januaries?

I know it's bad for you and all, but I like to go for an occasional in a tanning bed. For 10 minutes I'm warm and no one talks to me. I wouldn't recommend it to the point of the leathery skin, but I think the sunlight thing is real.

Either that or a week in the tropics, but the tanning bed is a bit more affordable.

Fire. Build a fire, sit outside and put sunshine on your face.

Or many margaritas.....

J should get a full spectrum lamp, like the Ott light. The light emitted is closer to natural sunlight than regular lamps and it helps with SAD disorder, the "Januaries." You can get them at Joann's fabrics, or check on-line for full spectrum lamp.
