President Ford

Yesterday’s headline in the Washington Post said, ”Gerald Ford dies, leaving a legacy of healing.” What a wonderful legacy to leave a nation.

I wonder what the headline will say when George W. Bush dies?

I wouldn't be commenting with much of anything nice if it were to happen now but who knows in a few decades down the road.
What I kept thinking about when I heard Ford had died was an incident from my 7th grade year.
The history class had a discussion and bit of debate about the coming Presidential election. We didn't know much of what we were talking about-just espousing what we heard our parents say. Each side made a big poster with the candidate's name. I chose Ford but when we got done, it said Frod and we had to hang it up anyway. Talk about being embarrassed!
Anyway, I remember thinking he was a strong, gentle president and since then I've understood what he did in his presidency. It's always sad to lose a President.

I don't know what they'll say about Bush, but I hope they'll say that whoever takes over in 2009 led the nation through its own time of healing -- we'll need it.
