The primaries are finally over. It looks like our choice in November will be Obama or McCain. Who do you think they should choose to be their running mate?
I don't know, but I think Obama would be nuts to pick Hillary, especially after the way she attacked him during the primaries. Besides, we all know she wants to be president - why would she want to be second banana?
Plus I wouldn't want Billy-boy hanging around the White House if I were president...
I am sort of wondering the same thing. Who? They call Obama/Clinton the dream ticket but I have Billy reservations too. He was her downfall and she was not smart to make it seem like a 3rd term run. I guess Edwards would be my choice bit I don't think he is available. Sorry, but McCain alone is bad enough without thinking of a pal next to him.
I don't get the fear of Bill. Sure, he made huge personal mistakes, but he didn't suck us into a terrible war and ruin our reputation abroad. Who still likes America now? If everyone who had an affair lost their job, can you imagine the unemployment rates?
I think Bill is an asset. I'd love to see Hillary on the ticket. Send Bill off to repair the foreign relations damage. Give Hillary a big project, like her health care initiative, and let Obama do his stuff. Anyone else Obama chooses would seem boring. But I bet he doesn't choose her.
Whoever McCain chooses, it better be someone good. He or she is likely to finish his term.
In my opinion, Obama should give serious consideration to Hillary. She's earned it. Politicians can turn on a dime and get along just fine with each other - their followers not so much. Hers will feel cheated if he doesn't choose her and his will feel he's sold out if he does. If he doesn't choose her, he should offer her something of substance. Biden might be a possibility - Richardson should stay in New Mexico.
Re Bill: He can continue doing good works with #41. Shows both sides can and should work together.
Re McCain - Romney might add some balance, especially re the economy.
Re November: I keep hearing things like the Democrats can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and the Republicans can't win but the Dem's can lose and the Democrats fall in love while the Republicans fall in line. Sigh. It's a long way until November.
After reading the op eds in the morning paper it seems the country split in about the same way as my little 6 person survey. Hillary is supported strongly by about half of the Democrats and feared by about half. I think she would make for a stronger ticket, but we will just have to wait and see. I'm glad Obama is taking his time in making his choice. I'll vote for whoever the Democratic ticket is. I think McCain is a good person but I disagree with his ideas on where to lead the country. He is too old. Whoever he picks may have to step into the number one spot. I have no ideas on that side.
i can't stand mccain's wife. apparently she stole drugs from a charity she worked for...low. really, really low. i don't like mccain's choice of life partner mate, i wonder at his judgement for a vice president. not that it matters to me. i will vote for Obama no matter what. i want change and i will vote for the candidate who is talking change and is not of the same party that is currently in office. i think hillary clinton would be better as a Secretary of State or as a Supreme Court Justice. i think she is best in a role where she can make a difference.
